Doncaster Racecourse

Today’s Beverley card was abandoned on Wednesday morning due to waterlogging although the weather is due to improve dramatically over the Bank Holiday weekend.

At Warwick Sartene’s Son (8.00) was just touched off over a slightly shorter trip here a week ago when he bumped into a well treated rival with the third 13L away. The selection has been raised 4lbs for that effort but can race from his old mark until the weekend. He had a hard race last week, but he is taken to go one better for Robert Bevis. The 7/2 on Tuesday was too big – there was a gamble on Starsky first thing – and the selection is 5/2 at MansionBet at the time of posting.

At Hamilton Tricorn (3.10) carries a 4lbs penalty for scoring in first time cheekpieces for Iain Jardine at Ayr on fast ground last week but he was once rated 35lbs higher when trained by John Gosden and can follow up. Conditions were described as good – good to soft in places – on Tuesday and the selection should not be inconvenienced if the ground eases. If the headgear works again, he will be tough to beat. The 4s with 10Bet looks fair.
