The ground was described as good to soft at Market Rasen on Wednesday ahead of todays seven-race card.

Begoodtoyourself (1.52) has finished runner up in his last three starts and is a 16-race maiden, but he has bumped into a couple of well handicapped rivals in his last couple of starts and, as a 6-y-old, he remains open to further improvement. The ew selection – 9/2 with Willoam Hill – does have a win next to his name between the flags and his course record reads 22.

Malinas Island (2.52) goes unpenalized for landing a conditional jockeys’ event at Lingfield last week under Kevin Brogan who keeps the ride for Neil Mulholland. That was the 6-y-olds first career success, but he has only had six career starts and he is entitled to improve again for the outing. He would be carrying 6lbs extra from the weekend. There was 7/4 about at the time of writing but he is 5/6 when posting with MansionBet.

The feature race at Wincanton is the Silver Buck Handicap Chase and Captain Tommy will appreciate this extended 3m 1f trip on good ground having disappointed – albeit in a better race – at Bangor on ground softer than ideal last time.

He can race from the same mark as when scoring at Uttoxeter back in the spring, but the nod goes to Butterwick Brook (2.15) who looked ready for a step back up in trip when runner up over 2m 4f here a fortnight ago.

The selection did not jump with much fluency here last time, but the prospect of softer ground and an additional five furlongs should suit Colin Tizzard’s 6-y-old – 11/4 with Boylesports – whose sole success came on heavy ground.

The feature race is the 2m handicap hurdle and the 100-rated flat horse On To Victory is the one to beat but he has been put in short enough in the betting at 2/1 and preference is for Honneur D’Ajonc (2.45) who has won two of his last three starts on fast ground but is equally adept on good or softer ground. He does have to improve again in this better grade, but he is only a 4-y-o with just seven career races to his name. The 9/2 with 10Bet looks about right.
